2nd highest heat index in March recorded in Catarman, Northern Samar

MANILA — The heat index in Catarman, Northern Samar reached 46°C at 1 pm on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The heat index is within the “danger” category, which ranges from 42°C to 51°C.

It was the second-highest heat index recorded from March 1 to 30.

The hottest heat index in the period was at 47°C, reported at San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, on March 25 and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, on March 24.

Heat index measures the discomfort an average person experiences due to the combined effects of temperature and air humidity.
