Beijing Marathon comes back after two-year hiatus

The event has been held annually since 1981 and has become symbolic for marathon enthusiasts.

BEIJING – Beijing Marathon kicked off on Sunday morning in the capital city of China after a two-year break.

The event has been held annually since 1981, and has become a symbolic event for marathon enthusiasts. However, it was canceled over the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A total of 20,000 runners set off from Tian’anmen Square and the finishing line was at the Olympic Park, one of the main venues of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
