Malay-Muslim NGO plans to hold rally to demand dissolution of Parliament.
Malay-Muslim NGO Ummah has plans to hold another rally to demand the Pakatan Harapan government dissolve Parliament, claiming it has failed to protect the interests of the Muslim community.
“It will be held on a scale similar to the anti-International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd) rally where we will urge the government to call for elections before their time is over, ” said secretariat head Aminuddin Yahya during a press conference at the National Ummah Unity Convention here Sunday (Aug 25).
In May, Ummah held a “405 Gathering” to protest the government allegedly sidelining the Malays and Muslims on issues pertaining to the Rome Statute, Icerd, Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), and the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim in the Seafield temple riots, among others.
“We will call for the government to dissolve Parliament, no need to wait for 2023. And then we can make sure Pakatan will fall,” Aminuddin added.
“We will not disclose too much information as yet to maintain the element of suspense surrounding the rally.
“If we say too much, people might not be as interested or excited to attend the rally, so we will wait for the right time before revealing more, ” he said.
