KATHMANDU – Doctors have halted services at all hospitals across the country, except for emergency care, on Sunday in protest against the attacks on doctors in Hetauda.
In a statement on Saturday, the Nepal Medical Association announced the closure of all services except emergency care in all government health institutions, hospitals, medical colleges, private hospitals and clinics across the country.
Doctors at Bir Hospital in Kathmandu protested carrying placards with slogans—‘no more tolerance to violence’, ‘white coat is turning red’ and ‘don’t force us to leave the country’ among others.
An unruly group barged into Sancho Hospital in Hetauda-1 and thrashed on-duty doctors Prashanta Bidari and Bikash Thapa on Wednesday over the death of a dengue patient a month ago.
Here are some pictures taken outside Bir Hospital in Kathmandu by the Post’s photojournalist Angad Dhakal.
