PETALING JAYA – Former Putrajaya Umno deputy chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz (pic) says he has been sacked by the party.
The former press secretary to former communications and multimedia minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said he was informed of the decision through a call from Umno headquarters, with a dismissal letter sent through WhatsApp.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday (Jan 31), he also included a copy of the letter dated Jan 27 signed by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
Tun Faisal, who was suspended in 2021, said he had also appealed his previous six-year suspension due to the way it was questionably decided.
“The Umno disciplinary board tribunal had then failed to prove me guilty as I did not slander Ahmad Zahid, when I said he had signed a statutory declaration (SD) supporting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister, which later turned out to be true.
“Secondly, I did not openly criticise Ahmad Zahid but rather provided constructive criticism after the SDs came to light,” he said.
Tun Faisal’s sacking comes after former Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin along with former Selangor Umno chief Tan Sri Noh Omar, was sacked from the party following a supreme council meeting on Jan 27.
Former vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan, former Youth exco member Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya, former Johor state exco member and Tebrau Umno division chief Datuk Maulizan Bujang and former Jempol MP Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Mohd Shariff were suspended for six years.
