2 held in India over ‘trafficking’ Bangladeshi girl

DHAKA – India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) searched five locations in Kolkata and Bongaon in West Bengal and arrested two men for their alleged involvement in the trafficking of a Bangladeshi girl, officials said today.

The arrested duo Amir Ali Shekh and Amal Krishna Mondal, are from the North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, an NIA statement said.

The victim was trafficked into India on the pretext of employment and was forced into exploitation, it said.

The search operation resulted in the seizure of a huge amount of Bangladeshi, Indian, and other currencies and documents.
