41 Bangladeshis return after serving jail terms in Myanmar prisons

They returned to Bangladesh following a flag meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh and Myanmar's Border Guard Police.

Forty-one Bangladeshis returned to the country from Myanmar yesterday after serving jail terms in different prisons there.

They came back to Bangladesh through the Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf border following a flag meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP).

Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-2, led the 16-member Bangladesh team during the flag meeting.

Arrangements have been made to keep the Bangladesh nationals under official quarantine with the support of the UNO and the upazila health officer of Teknaf, according to BGB.

BGP detained the 41 Bangladeshis on charges of crossing into Myanmar from Bangladesh illegally at different times.
