HONG KONG – Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu will lead a Hong Kong delegation on Sunday to visit Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia – three key members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – to expand cooperation in trade, economy and investment.
Lee will be accompanied by Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong Wai-lun, and about 30 high-level representatives from industry and commerce, financial services, transport, logistics and e-commerce, and the innovation and technology sectors.
Lee said that ASEAN is the second largest trading partner of Hong Kong, with robust economic development and unlimited potential. This is Lee’s second visit to ASEAN countries since he took office in July 2022.

Lee will visit Singapore from July 23 to 25. He will depart for Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 25 and fly on to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 27.
Lee will meet with local political and business leaders to introduce Hong Kong’s unique advantages of enjoying the strong support of the motherland and being closely connected to the world under the “one country, two systems” principle. He will also visit several enterprises and major infrastructure projects to explore collaboration in trade and infrastructure.
He will return to Hong Kong in the afternoon on July 29.

In February, Lee made a similar visit to the Middle East, in a bid to promote the city and explore new cooperation fronts.
In April, Lee, leading a high-level delegation, made another effort to look for cooperation in four cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), namely Shenzhen, Dongguan, Foshan and Guangzhou.
