DHAKA – A group of women lawmakers of ruling BJP today met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and lodged a complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly making an “inappropriate gesture” towards federal minister Smriti Irani when she was speaking in the House.

The complaint signed by more than 20 women parliamentarians demanded “stringent action” against the Congress leader, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

According to the compliant, Rahul Gandhi behaved in an “indecent manner” which not only insulted the dignity of women members in the House but also brought disrepute and lowered the dignity of this House”.

The signatories included Shobha Karandlaje, Darshana Jardosh and Debasree Chaudhuri.

Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT cell, posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) purportedly showing Rahul blowing a flying kiss.

On the other hand, the Congress described the women MPs letter as the BJP’s “strategy to sidetrack” from the main issue.
