According to the city People’s Committee, despite challenges, the city’s socio-economic development recorded bright spots in 2023.
The number of tourists to the city was estimated at more than 7.3 million this year, doubling last year’s figure.
The city has performed well on digital transformation, building a smart city along with start-up innovation, according to the report of the city People’s Committee.
However, the city’s economic growth rate in 2023 remained modest with the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) increasing by only 2.58 per cent over last year.

The council will discuss the city’s socio-economic development plan for 2024; budget revenue and expenditure estimates and public investment plan for 2024 and adjustment of the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-25 period, he said.
The city People’s Council will also adjust and supplement the list of key projects for the city in the 2021-25 period and give opinions on specific social security policies such as raising social assistance standards and expanding subjects under social protection, regular and extraordinary subsidy policies for people with revolutionary merits, relatives of martyrs suffering from serious diseases and in difficult circumstances.
The city People’s Council will conduct a vote of confidence for 26 officials elected by the council following the National Assembly’s principles and instructions.
