China Eastern Airlines debuts China-developed jet service between Beijing and Xi’an

Since the beginning of its commercial operations with the first C919 on May 28, 2023, China Eastern's C919 fleet has grown to seven jets.

BEIJING – China Eastern Airlines, the first global customer of the C919 jet, debuted flights between Beijing and Xi’an of Shaanxi province starting Monday. This marks the fifth commercial regular flight operated by China’s first self-developed narrow-body jet, according to the Shanghai-based carrier.

The daily flights take off at 4 pm (16:00) from Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, and is scheduled to arrive at Beijing Daxing International Airport at 5:40 pm. The return flight would take off from Beijing at 8 pm (20:00) and arrive at Xi’an around 10:20 pm, according to China Eastern.

Since the beginning commercial operations with the first C919 on May 28, 2023, China Eastern’s C919 fleet has grown to seven jets.

Before Monday, China Eastern operates four C919 regular commercial routes between Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport to Chinese destinations of Beijing, Chengdu in Sichuan province, Xi’an in Shaanxi province, and Guangzhou in Guangdong province.

As of Saturday, the C919 fleet has conducted 3,133 commercial flights, safely carrying nearly 420,000 passenger trips.
