Multi-million ringgit company GISB’s business empire houses 425 polygamous families

According to the GISB's corporate video on its website, there are 1,656 families in the business group network. Of the number, 1,231 are monogamous families while 425 are polygamous.

KUALA LUMPUR – Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), which has been embroiled in scandal following allegations of sexual abuse against children at its welfare homes was initially founded by Ashaari Muhammad – who was also the founder of the outlawed Al-Arqam movement.

According to the GISB’s corporate video on its website, the company, which was initially known as Global Ikhwan Sdn Bhd, underwent several rounds of rebranding through the years.

Following Ashaari’s passing in 2010, it was helmed by two of its former executive chairpersons – Hatijah Aam (Ashaari’s widow) and Mohd Rasidi Abdullah.

It is currently headed by GISB chief executive officer Datuk Nasiruddin Mohd Ali, who is assisted by members of the advisory council.

The same corporate video also reveals that the company employs a 5,356-strong workforce comprising 1,698 adults and 3,658 youths.

According to the video, there are 1,656 families in the GISB business group network. Of the number, 1,231 are monogamous families while 425 are polygamous.

With 25 subsidiaries and associated companies, Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) has a presence across 20 countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

The company operates a slew of businesses such as retail marts, catering, poultry, event management, consultancy services and tours, among others.

There are also restaurants in London, Paris, Istanbul, Dubai and Mecca under its banner.

Within the company, there are also 51 departments established based in seven sectors.

The sectors are education and human capital; administration and finance; multimedia and communications; agriculture, stock breeding and fishery; community, welfare, family and health; youth and Sunnah sports; and business, manufacturing and tourism.
