MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte’s trust rating saw a 10-point drop while President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s also saw a slight decrease, Octa Research said on Tuesday.
The survey was conducted from Nov. 10 to 16 last year, when issues on Duterte’s confidential funds for the office of the Vice President made headlines.
Octa’s 4th Quarter 2024 Tugon ng Masa nationwide survey said Duterte’s trust ratings dropped to 49 percent, which is a 10-percentage-point less from the 59 percent recorded in the previous quarter.
Likewise, her performance rating fell to 48 percent, down from 52 percent in the previous quarter.
“This marks the first time both the trust and performance ratings of the Vice-President have fallen below the majority threshold,” Octa said in a statement.
Octa said these figures represent the lowest ratings for Duterte since December 2023 and reflect a “continuing downward trend.”
On the other hand, Marcos holds trust and performance ratings of 65 and 64 percent, respectively.
Marcos’ trust rating, however, saw a slight decrease of four percentage points from the 69 percent last quarter.
His performance rating also saw two percentage points decrease from 66 percent last quarter.
“The majority of Filipinos continue to trust and are satisfied with the performance of President Marcos, Jr.,” Octa further said.
Despite this, Octa noted that Marcos Jr.’s trust has steadily declined since the second quarter of 2024.
Marcos and Duterte, who were running mates in the 2022 elections, have been embroiled in a worsening clash after the latter quit her post in the Cabinet as education secretary in June.
The feud has since escalated, with Duterte recently admitting that she supposedly instructed someone to kill Marcos, his wife Liza, and cousin Romualdez if she were to be killed.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Martin Romualdez’s trust rating is at 58 percent, while Senate President Francis Escudero also has a trust rating of 58 percent.
Octa noted that Romualdez and Escudero “continue to enjoy the trust and performance ratings among most adult Filipinos.”
Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo received a 10 percent trust rating.
Octa interviewed a total of 1,200 male and female respondents aged 18 and above.
