5 tonnes of banned polythene seized in Bangladesh’s Sirajganj

PABNA – Police in Sirajganj seized a truck loaded with banned polythene and arrested two individuals for transporting the material.

The arrested suspects are Kamrul Hasan Mintu, 28, a resident of Gopalpur and the truck’s driver, and Abdullah Al Mahid, 17, from Deulia in Bagmara upazila.

They were allegedly transporting the banned polythene from Dhaka to Rajshahi.

Abdur Rouf, officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station, said the truck was stopped at a checkpoint in the Hatikumrul area of Sirajganj on Wednesday afternoon, following a tip-off.

During the operation, police confiscated five tonnes of banned polythene, valued at approximately Tk 12 lakh.The authorities arrested both individuals at the scene and are preparing to file a case related to the incident, the OC confirmed.
