BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The colourful field performance at the 41st National Day grand assembly yesterday showcased unity and patriotic spirit among the performers made up of government and private primary, secondary, colleges and higher learning institutions’ students, as well as government staff and officers.
The first segment of performances were traditional dances Hola Hela and Joget Lagu Dua, performed by 140 female and 101 male government and private primary school students.
The Hola Hela dance showcased the beauty of Brunei Darussalam’s rich cultural heritage and patriotism, depicting the spirit of love for a peaceful, prosperous homeland, centred on the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) values as the basis of nation solidarity.
The gentle but energetic dance moves tell the story of the natural beauty of Brunei – the blue ocean, fertile fields and the harmony of its people with each dance step arranged in line with the verse of a song symbolising the unity of hearts and efforts to build the country.
Joget Lagu Dua showcased a cheerful atmosphere through dance moves depicting the spirit of Bruneian youth in gaining knowledge, exploring technology and shaping a glorious future. The performance was not just entertainment, but a symbol of deep love for the Sultanate.
Performances of patriotic songs medley of Janji Merdeka, Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara and Darussalam Gemilang by local artists and singers Neff Aslee, Faizul Razali, Shaf Shahil, Marsha, Ayesha Said, Isyraf Yusri, Kamisahnor, Hasberina and Muqsith, featured in the second segment of the performance. The performances concluded with the theme performance showcased by 6,400 participants.
The third segment highlighted the deep love for the homeland, race, monarch and religion rooted in the soul of every citizen, where through the sounds of patriotic songs, the performance embodied the values of loyalty, sacrifice and responsibility in preserving the country’s heritage. Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara took the audience through the aspirations of sustainable development, with the core values of MIB as a guide. The field performance concluded with Darussalam Gemilang, emphasising the unity of the people, the spirit of youth and the mastery of technology as the keys to a glorious future.
