DHAKA – Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team brightened their chances to reach the semifinals of 6th Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship after thrashing Malaysia 52-12 in a Group A fixture in Pardis, Tehran, Iran on Thursday.

After suffering from a 64-23 thumping at the hands of defending champions India in their first match, Bangladesh took to the ground strongly as the women in red and green dominated Malaysia in the first half and boasted a 27-5 lead before adding 25 more points in the second.

Bangladesh need to win against Thailand in their last group fixture today to progress to the semis. Along with a spot in the final four, Bangladesh would also confirm a bronze medal – a feat they achieved in the inaugural edition of the championship in 2005 —  if they manage to down Thailand.
