KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian-born actress Stephenie Lim has ended her tumultuous marriage to scandal-plagued Hong Kong actor Sun Xing for the second time.

In a statement on Tuesday (April 8), Lim, 54, revealed that she has personally chosen to end her two-decade marriage. It’s alleged that a third party may have played a role in the split.

In her statement, Lim, who’s based in Taiwan, made it clear that Sun’s actions will have no bearing on her or their son’s lives moving forward.

“This time, I will no longer compromise, no longer endure. I refuse to stay silent and invalidate my own feelings. No matter how much love and pain, how much deceit and humiliation there was in the past, this is the end of it,” she wrote.

The actress added that she will no longer bear the burden of others’ mistakes and is now focused on starting a new chapter in her life.

“I once gave my all to love, and now I’m choosing to let go with all my strength! This isn’t because I want to forget, but because I want to embrace myself again. I know I’m worthy of love, happiness, clear skies and smiles that belong to me,” she wrote.

Lim, who was crowned champion of Astro’s Miss Chinese International Pageant in 1991, went on to thank her family and friends for their unwavering support.

She also stressed that both she and her son will continue living their lives well, adding: “I’m not afraid to start over. I will embrace love and new possibilities with strength and confidence.”

Lim and Sun tied the knot in 2001 and welcomed their first child who’s said to be in his early 20s presently. Sun, 61, has two children from a previous marriage.

The pair first divorced in 2007 after Sun was caught having an extramarital affair while filming a drama in mainland China. He was later arrested by Beijing authorities in 2011 for taking illegal drugs and served 19 days in detention.

In 2014, Lim and Sun rekindled their romance and remarried after seven years apart. However, they broke up again in 2019 after Sun was photographed kissing another woman in public.

Despite the split, Lim and Sun never legally divorced. They had reconciled once more in 2024.
