PHNOM PENH – Cambodia’s top carom billiards player, Sruong Pheavy, has secured another major victory for the Kingdom by winning the LPBA Championship 2025–2026 in South Korea.

Speaking about her triumph, Pheavy noted that she has worked tirelessly to achieve this excellent result for the Cambodian people and country. She was the sole female Cambodian athlete to compete at the tournament, which brought together top players from around the world.

She took to social media to celebrate.

“My dear Cambodian brothers, sisters and parents — your daughter has won. After nearly two weeks of fighting day and night, without rest, I’ve earned this victory for the people and pride for our nation,” she wrote.

During the competition, she advanced through several rounds. In the round of 16, she defeated Ayako Sakai from Japan, then went on to beat two South Korean players in the quarter and semifinals, before defeating Bo-ra Kim, another Korean player, in the final match.

Pheavy won the final with a score of 11–2, making her champion once again.

This marks her eighth LPBA title. In March, she also won the PBA Golden Cue Awards 2025, recognising her as the top female player by the International Billiards Federation — a testament to her growing fame and excellence in the sport.

Pheavy, who hails from Tboung Khmum province, has previously won bronze medals at the UMB Women’s World Three-Cushion Championships in 2018 and 2019, and made headlines by earning 1 gold and 1 bronze medal at her first Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in 2023, hosted by Cambodia.

However, over the past year, Pheavy revealed she had faced many hardships while dedicating herself to cue sports — especially as she represented Cambodia on the international stage in South Korea, where competition is fierce.

“For almost a year and a half, I’ve borne heavy responsibilities, injuries and pain — all in the name of national pride. I pushed myself through it all to win for the people, for everything, and for you (referring to the Cambodian and Korean flags),” explained the SEA Games gold medallist.

She expressed gratitude to her sponsors, who have continued to support her and make it possible for her to represent Cambodia — even though she now lives in South Korea. She thanked her fans in both Cambodia and Korea for their love and encouragement, which helped her overcome challenges and achieve continued success as a professional billiards player.

“As long as this Cambodian daughter keeps stepping up to compete, the louder the cheers get, the more famous she becomes, and the more the world learns about her country. I’ve become the most-watched player — and I still managed to win under the most intense pressure,” she noted, alongside a photograph from her most recent victory over Bo-ra Kim.
