NEW DELHI – Rejecting a British media report which alleged that two families in the UK received wrong bodies of victims of the June 12 Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, India said on Wednesday that the concerned authorities had carried out identification of victims as per established protocols and technical requirements.
The tragic Air India plane crash resulted in the death of 260 individuals, including 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and 19 people on the ground in Ahmedabad on June 12.
“We have seen the report and have been working closely with the UK side from the moment these concerns and issues were brought to our attention,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in response to media queries regarding a report in the Daily Mail on the Air India crash.
He said in the wake of the tragic crash, the concerned authorities had carried out identification of victims as per established protocols and technical requirements .
“All mortal remains were handled with utmost professionalism and with due regard for the dignity of the deceased,” the MEA spokesperson said.
“We are continuing to work with the UK authorities on addressing any concerns related to this issue,” Jaiswal said.
