BHOPAL – In a shocking incident, unidentified miscreants issued death threats and pelted stones at the official residence of a judge in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh.
According to the police, the incident took place in Bhalumada area around 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, while the judge, Amandeep Singh Chhabra (39), was asleep with his family at his official residence.
Anuppur Superintendent of Police Moti-ur Rehman said an FIR was registered on Saturday at the Bhalumada police station based on the complaint filed by the judge.
The case has been registered under Sections 224 (threatening a public servant or someone connected to them with intent to influence official duties), 296 (obscene acts and songs), 324 (mischief causing wrongful loss or damage to property), 331(6) (house-breaking after preparation to cause hurt), 333 (house-trespass with preparation for hurt, assault, or wrongful restraint), and 351(3) (threats of death, grievous hurt, or destruction of property by fire) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The miscreants allegedly hurled abuses, threatened to kill the judge, and damaged property, including a gate lamp and iron fixtures, before pelting stones into the courtyard.
Judge Amandeep Singh Chhabra is serving as a Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) and Civil Judge at the Kotma court.
The SP added that an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
