DHAKA – The three-day Eid-ul-Fitr festival, which celebrates the conclusion of Ramadan’s fasting month, is being celebrated by Muslims all across the world.

Eid-ul-Fitr, or “breaking of the fast”, begins with the first sighting of the new moon and varies greatly from nation to country.

Celebrations follow a special early morning prayer in mosques and open-air venues, followed by feasts and festivals.

This year, Eid falls in the midst of a global food price spike, worsened by the conflict in Ukraine.

Despite this, many Muslims are adamant about enjoying the Eid properly after two years, since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, and the lifting of coronavirus restrictions in their countries.
