KUALA LUMPUR– A 78-year-old former diplomat and his son have been arrested following the discovery of about 100 ganja trees growing in their house compound in Janda Baik, Pahang.
It is learnt that the former diplomat was detained during a raid on Saturday (May 21) while his 53-year-old son was detained in Shah Alam on Monday (May 23).
The police raided the house at about 6pm on Saturday and discovered up to 100 plants believed to be ganja trees planted around the property.
When contacted, Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay confirmed the arrests.
“We seized ganja trees and other items. The NCID is investigating how the suspects managed to obtain the supply to plant the ganja trees. We are also investigating the roles played by both men in this matter,” he said.
Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf is expected to issue a statement and further details on Tuesday (May 24).
