HONG KONG – The investigation into the accident during the concert of Cantopop boy band Mirrorat the Hong Kong Coliseum will focus on finding its cause and determining whether negligence was involved, a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government spokesman said Sunday.

The task force to be led by an Assistant Director of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department that was set up earlier will hold its first meeting on Monday. It will identify the cause of the accident and suggest and following up on recommendations to prevent any similar incident.
The spokesman said the Labour Department is investigating the organizer to see if the safety of the concert staff was was safeguarded according to Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance.
The Hong Kong Police Force has also joined to investigate whether there was professional negligence or other criminal liability involved, and will contact the persons to assist in the investigation.
During the concert on Thursday night, a huge video panel fell onto the stadium’s stage while more than a dozen performers were on it.
The two dancers hit by the screen were hospitalized. One suffered neck injuries and ;ocal media reported that the fourth section of his cervical spine was fractured, and that he had surgery on Friday.
The other dancer, who was listed in stable condition after sustaining injuries to his head, was discharged on Friday afternoon. None of the 12 members of Mirror was hurt in the accident.
According to an initial investigation by the government, one of the metal suspension cords holding up the screen snapped.
The concert organizer canceled the eight upcoming performances of the band that were scheduled at the Coliseum.
