Bangladesh has been facing a dengue epidemic.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said effective mosquito repellent will reach Dhaka within two to four days aiming to control dengue.
“The process of importing effective medicine to kill mosquito has been accelerated. Effective mosquito repellent will reach Dhaka within two to four days,” he said while addressing a rally, arranged by Dhaka North City Unit of AL, on Mirpur Majar Road in the capital. The rally was arranged before launching a cleanliness drive.
Stressing the need for making people aware of aedes mosquito to prevent dengue, Quader said as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the cleanliness drives and awareness programmes will continue as long as aedes and dengue are not controlled.
He urged city dwellers to keep their homes, homestead premises, workplaces, surroundings, school and college campuses and shopping malls clean.
The AL general secretary said there is no alternative to using mosquito nets to prevent mosquito bites. “Use mosquito nets whenever you sleep in day or night,” he added.
Quader asked city corporations to spray effective mosquito medicines for eliminating aedes mosquito.
