JOHOR BARU – Perikatan Nasional will form the next government if there is a 90% voter turnout on polling day, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Perikatan chairman claimed that he had received reports from the Election Commission (EC) that the voter turnout for the early votes had almost reached 95% which is the highest record in the country.
“If we can at least get 90% turnout in the coming polling day on Nov 19, Perikatan will be able to form the government,” he said during a speech at a meet and greet session with the community in Taman Sri Stulang here on Tuesday (Nov 15).
Perikatan is the only better choice for the people compared with Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, he said.
“I formed Perikatan as Barisan is no longer trustworthy; Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi thinks that if he can become the prime minister, all 87 charges against him will be dropped.
“On the other hand, we have Lim Guan Eng, who was elected as the finance minister; not only he stopped the allocation for the Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC), he also tried to remove the allocation under Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas),” he said.
Malaysia is a multiracial country and the government should help everyone
regardless of their race and religion, he said.
Ekuinas was formed to help boost bumiputera economic participation.
“I told my minister, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, to tell then prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad not to support his (Lim’s) decision (on Ekuinas),” he added.
On the programme, Muhyiddin said he plans to meet Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi regarding the status of the residents of Rumah Pangsa Bukit Chagar, who want their house turned into a rent-to-own scheme.
“I cannot go and meet him right now because I am nobody to him.
“I can only meet him if I am elected as prime minister after the GE15, and only then, whether he likes it or not, he will have to see me,” he said.
