Hong Kong chief exec to visit Middle East on full-scale publicity drive

A ceremony will be held two days later for a major publicity campaign to promote Hong Kong overseas as the SAR rapidly returns to normalcy.

BEIJING – Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu will lead a delegation to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Saturday to kick off a major publicity campaign to promote the special administrative region both overseas and on the Chinese mainland.

Lee also announced that a ceremony will be held two days later for a major publicity campaign called “Hello Hong Kong” to promote the city overseas and on the Chinese mainland as the SAR rapidly returns to normalcy

Speaking ahead of a weekly Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, Lee said his delegation will include Deputy Secretary for Justice Cheung Kwok-kwan, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau and more than 30 representatives of various industries.

He said the Middle East tour will bring together different political and business leaders to tell Hong Kong stories better. The delegation will also include members of the business, financial services, and innovation and technology sectors to help promote trade, investment and cultural links between the HKSAR and the Middle East, and seek business opportunities.
