KATHMANDU – An Indian climber who had gone missing on Mt Annapurna, the world’s tenth-highest peak, has been found alive after three days.
Yubaraj Khatiwada, director of the Department of Tourism, said that a team of rescuers found the 34-year-old Anurag Maloo in a deep crevasse.
On Monday, the climber went missing after he fell down from around 6,000m while descending from Camp III of Mt Annapurna.
Khatiwada said that Maloo was airlifted to Pokhara and admitted to the Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara.
Mina BK, nursing in-charge at the hospital, said they received Maloo at 11:00 am.
“He has been kept in a ventilator. He is in a critical condition.”
The Indian climber hails from Kishangarh in Rajasthan.
He was on a mission to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000m to create awareness about the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
