As AI rises, list of ‘future-proof careers’ expires in 2027

THAILAND – Artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to the disappearance of some professions in the future, it said.

The FTI’s took its list of “future-proof” careers from the World Economic Forum, which identified 10 technology careers that will be in demand up to the year 2027.

A recent report by the World Economic Forum said that 69 million new jobs will be created by 2027 and that about 89 million will be replaced by AI.

The 10 future-proof careers are:

– AI and machine learning experts

– Sustainability experts

– Smart business specialists

– Data security analysts

– Financial technology engineers

– Data analysts and data scientists

– Robotics engineers

– Big data specialists

– Agricultural machinery engineers

– Digital transformation specialists

It said that the five professions with the highest growth potential are:

– AI and machine learning experts

– Sustainability experts

– Smart business specialists

– Data security analysts

– Financial technology engineers

Five professions that are expected to disappear are:

– Bank service staff

– Postal administrative staff

– Cashiers and ticket sellers

– Basic data entry staff

– Private secretaries to executives

The FTI said it was coordinating with its members and relevant government and private sector agencies to study data and develop a plan to ensure the Thai labour force is ready for the future.
