As of April 29, Myanmar earthquake left almost 3,800 dead, over 5k injured

Myanmar Fire Brigade and search and rescue teams from both inside and outside the country are conducting timely search and rescue operations in the areas where the disaster occurred. To date, 653 survivors have been rescued and 778 dead have been recovered.

YANGON – As of today (April 29), 3,798 people have died, 5,106 have been injured, and 106 are missing in the six regions/states that were severely affected by the extremely strong earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28.

Myanmar Fire Brigade and search and rescue teams from both inside and outside the country are conducting timely search and rescue operations in the areas where the disaster occurred. To date, 653 survivors have been rescued and 778 dead have been recovered.

Local volunteers are donating money and goods to the affected people, as well as foreign countries, organizations, and volunteers.

From 7pm on April 28 to 5pm on April 29, the following items arrived at Yangon International Airport: toothpaste, toothbrushes, blankets, mosquito nets, bedding, solar lamps, and tents (3.918 tons) donated by Fo Guang Shani Bussha’s Light International Association Yayasan Sin Chew, Malaysia; medicines (2.185 tons) donated by the China-Myanmar Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association; mosquito nets and bedding (5.547 tons) donated by the Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation; Tetanus Diphtheria (TD) vaccine and Meases Rubella vaccine (0.49 tons) donated by Serum Institute of India Pvt Ltd; Ten (10) wooden crates containing tents, weighing 7.636 tons and 2.349 tons of tents, respectively, were received by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Relief supplies are being distributed to the affected people as soon as possible.
