VIENTIANE – Members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN convened in Vientiane on Sunday to finalise documents for presentation to ASEAN leaders for consideration at the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related meetings also taking place in Vientiane this week.
The 10th meeting of the Committee was chaired by the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Laos to ASEAN, Mr Bovonethat Douangchak, who is Chairman of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN for 2024, and attended by permanent representatives from other ASEAN countries, Timor Leste as an observer country, and the ASEAN Secretariat.
Documents discussed included the Draft Declaration of the ASEAN-Canada Special Session Summit; Draft Statement of the 21st ASEAN-India Summit; Draft Statement of the ASEAN-China Summit; Draft Statement of the 25th ASEAN-South Korea Summit, and draft documents relating to the 19th East Asia Summit.
In addition, the meeting reviewed the progress of work to develop the ASEAN Community, external cooperation, and preparations for the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits which take place from October 8-11.
The meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN is the fourth meeting hosted by Laos under the chairmanship of the Lao Permanent Representative to ASEAN.
