VIENTIANE – Representatives of ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste gathered in Luang Prabang city on Monday to discuss ways to solve problems in fulfilling plans relating to ASEAN connectivity.

Various issues were discussed so that objectives can be achieved as planned in 2025.

The plans were discussed at the third ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee meeting, chaired by Laos’ Permanent Representative to ASEAN, Mr Bovonethat Douangchack.

Participants reviewed the progress made and the challenges encountered in the implementation of the ASEAN 2025 integration plan, under which 28 measures are currently being implemented.

They also discussed the preparation of the final review report of the 2025 ASEAN integration work plan and the draft of the ASEAN integration strategic plan that will replace the ASEAN integration work plan and be finalised in 2025.

Following the meeting, the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee met with all 11 negotiation partners and non-ASEAN partner countries to share opinions on the progress and challenges in the implementation of the ASEAN Connection Plan and projects being carried out by negotiation partners and external partners that provide support for ASEAN connectivity.

The meeting continues to garner more support from negotiation partner countries, including within ASEAN, in terms of strengthening connectivity within ASEAN and creating a platform to encourage partners to formulate new projects in this regard.
