Aung San Suu Kyi’s health is improving, says Myanmar military spokesman

YANGON – National Defence and Security Council spokesman Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun said that Aung San Suu Kyi’s health condition is good.

General Zaw Min Tun made the remarks in response to questions from some media outlets about Aung San Suu Kyi’s health before departing from the airport near Pyin Oo Lwin after visiting the drug manufacturing sites discovered in Thibaw and Myint Lam townships for the second time on January 24 to military attachés and diplomats from international embassies, as well as local and foreign media.

Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun said, “”I would like to say three things about that. Number one, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s health is good. Number two, regarding Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s health, we have specialists from the Ministry of Health and specialists from the Tatmadaw Medical Corps who are providing her with assistance and care. When it comes to medicine, we are always conducting tests. Her health is good.””

Third, National Defense and Security Council spokesman Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun said that Aung San Suu Kyi’s case is more of a criminal matter than a political one, and that she is being charged with bribery and other charges, so the legal process will continue.
