DHAKA – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today said the second round of discussions with political parties aims to minimise existing differences over reform proposals and build on the consensus reached during the initial phase.
Speaking at the inauguration of the talks at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, Yunus announced that a “beautiful July Charter” would be unveiled following the discussions.
“We have already reached consensus on many issues,” he said.
“The remaining differences from the first phase can be narrowed so that we may include more points of agreement in our July Charter. The charter will be well-organised and appealing—truly a national document.”
Emphasising national unity, Yunus added, “We have not built politics on division, but have fostered unity for the welfare and progress of the country.”
The second phase of talks comes as part of the Consensus Commission’s broader effort to bring political parties together on key electoral and governance reforms ahead of the next general election.
