PETALING JAYA – Father’s Organic Farm will not shirk any responsibility for the tragic landslide that hit its campsite in Batang Kali on Friday (Dec 16).
“As the operator, we will not run away from our responsibilities despite the landslide occurring on another piece of land which belongs to the government.
“It is about two to three kilometres away from the farmland we leased. The site (of the landslide) was a large forest that had never been developed,” he said during an interview with a Chinese daily.
Tan also admitted he was facing immense pressure following the tragedy and shared the pain of families of victims as well as assisting search and rescue teams.
“Some survivors and family members cursed at me at the site – I fully understand. All I can do is bow my head in apology,” he said.
He also expressed his remorse to victims and their families, adding that he would assist them in any way possible.
The landslide, which occurred along the Batang Kali-Genting Highlands stretch in the wee hours of Dec 16 left 26 dead with seven victims yet to be found.
Search operations at the site are currently in its sixth day, with operations temporarily halted on Wednesday (Dec 21) evening due to continuous rain.
