SEOUL – Lisa of Blackpink made history as the first K-pop artist to perform at the Oscars, delivering a tribute to the James Bond film series at the 97th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The tribute performance, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, began with a montage honoring the legacy of the 007 film franchise. Lisa then took the stage in a sleek black gown following a tango performance by actress Margaret Qualley, who starred in the 2024 horror film “The Substance.”
Lisa performed “Live and Let Die,” the theme song from the 1973 Bond film of the same title, marking the first-ever live performance by a K-pop artist at the Oscars.
Following Lisa’s act, American rapper Doja Cat and British singer-songwriter Raye — who recently collaborated with Lisa on her new single “Born Again” — also took the stage.
While initial reports suggested they would perform their collaborative track, the artists instead continued the Bond tribute by singing iconic 007 theme songs. Doja Cat performed “Diamonds Are Forever,” while Raye delivered a rendition of “Skyfall.”
