KUALA LUMPUR – Nine individuals from India and four Pakistanis were detained at KL International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 and prohibited from entering the country.
The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) said the 13 were among 270 foreigners inspected on Tuesday (July 29).
“Those detained were eight men and a woman from India and four Pakistani men,” it said in a statement on Wednesday (July 30).
Those from India were attempting to pose as newly arrived visitors.
“They were believed to have changed clothing at the transit area to avoid detectiin and tried to sneak into the Immigration inspection line, as if they had just landed.
“However, strict monitoring by AKPS thwarted their attempt and they were detained before leaving the Immigration counter,” the AKPS said.
AKPS officers and personnel will step up patrols in the transit area, close monitoring via CCTV and impose stricter checking procedures to prevent such incidents from occuring.
“We urge those at KLIA to work with the authorities by reporting any suspicious behaviour or movements of foreigners,” the agency added
