HANOI — A 32-year-old man with brain death due to a traffic accident donated his heart to revive a patient in central Huế City while his liver and two kidneys saved three other patients in Hà Nội.

D.V.Th, 32 years old, residing in Lương Sơn Commune, Yên Lập District, Phú Thọ Province unfortunately had a serious traffic accident while he was on the way home from work. He was transferred by his family to the Dân Lập district hospital in the province and then transferred to the Việt Đức Friendship Hospital in Hà Nội. Despite being treated wholeheartedly by the doctors, he fell into a state of brain death.

Knowing that Th. could not survive, with the mobilisation of the Organ Transplantation Coordinating and Consulting Unit, the Organ Transplant Centre and Việt Đức Friendship Hospital, his family agreed to donate his tissues and organs to revive the lives of seriously ill patients.

From Th.’s donated organs, the National Coordination Centre for Human Organ Transplantation transported his heart to the Huế Central Hospital in the central city of Huế for an organ transplant for a patient with dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure.

Bamboo Airways made a special journey to transport the heart from Hà Nội to Huế City, creating favourable conditions for a successful heart transplant.
