DHAKA – British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook and Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen paid separate courtesy calls on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today at his office in the parliament.
Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and PM’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir were present, according to the PMO press wing.
The British government offered cooperation in technical education institutions and training, while both parties discussed expanding bilateral trade and British investment in Bangladesh.
The British high commissioner also expressed interest in investment in the aviation sector following the operational launch of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
In the meeting with Chinese Ambassador, both sides emphasised enhancing Bangladesh-China relations through greater cooperation in trade, investment, technical education, and people-to-people exchanges.
At the outset, the ambassador congratulated Bangladesh on the election of Dr Khalilur Rahman as president of the 2026-2027 session of the United Nations General Assembly.
