BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), through the Department of Syariah Affairs, informed the public of a complaint received regarding the sale of a bottle-cleaning brush under the PAL Collection brand at a supermarket in the country, suspected to be made from non-halal materials. Following the complaint, the Department of Scientific Services, Ministry of Health conducted a laboratory analysis on December 22, 2025.
The analysis confirmed that the PAL Collection bottle-cleaning brush is made from pig bristles.
To safeguard the welfare and interests of the Muslim community, the Department of Syariah Affairs instructed the business owner to immediately segregate the sale of the product from other items.
The brush is to be sold only in the non-halal section and must not be exposed to the Muslim community.
The MoRA reminded business owners, traders, suppliers, and importers to remain vigilant and attentive when marketing imported products and consumer goods to the public, to ensure that items sold are clean, pure, and free from non-halal materials or contamination.
The ministry stressed that such measures are important to protect the interests and well-being of the Muslim community from purchasing or using non-halal consumer products.
MoRA also expressed its appreciation to the public for the information and complaints received, and encouraged continued public vigilance in reporting the open sale of non-halal products at business premises.
