BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, on Thursday received in audience Chief of Defence Forces, Royal Thai Armed Forces General Ukris Boontanondha. The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.
Accompanying General Ukris were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam Akrapong Chalermnon, and senior officials from the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
According to the Ministry of Defence (MinDef), Brunei Darussalam and the Kingdom of Thailand have established diplomatic relations since 01 January 1984. The close bilateral relations between both countries was reflected during the recent 35th ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, Russian Federation where His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received in audience Prime Minister of Thailand Anutin Charnvirakul.
In the defence and military field, the bilateral relations between both countries continue to be strengthened through various defence and military activities comprises courses, exchanges of visits, meetings and exercises, as well as through multilateral platforms particularly under the ambit of the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM).
