BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Local bodybuilders Muhammad Al-Akif bin Elias and Mohd Fairuz bin Mohd Tahir did the country proud after emerging victorious in the Mr Borneo 2024 Bodybuilding and Physique Championships at the Penampang Cultural Centre in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah recently.
Muhammad Al-Akif was crowned the overall champion and claimed the coveted Champion of Champions title.
He also emerged champion in above 70-kilogramme (kg) open category with his fellow compatriot Mohd Fairuz also triumphant after winning the under 70kg open category.
Both local participants performed under the banner of Dudgym Fitness Team Gobang.
The local representatives were part of the 100 participants from around the region including Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
Organised by Sabah State Bodybuilding Association (SSBA) with the support of Sabah State Sports Council and Sabah Tourism Board, this year’s inter-regional competition held six closed categories (reserved only for Sabah athletes) and four open categories.
