Bruneian students encouraged to embrace ASEAN values

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Some 87 students from Nusa Laila Puteri School attended the ‘Kenali ASEAN’ roadshow on January 15, aimed at promoting and providing broad exposure to basic information about ASEAN among secondary school students in the country.

The roadshow was organised by Information Department under the Prime Minister’s Office, through the International Affairs Desk of the Corporate Relations Unit, Media and Corporate Communications Division, in its capacity as Secretariat to the ASEAN-COCI Sub-Committee on Information (SCI).

The school’s Principal Fiffi Hafizah binti Md Saifulazli, along with members of the teaching staff, were present.

The briefing was delivered by Head of the International Affairs Desk Eddy Iswandy bin Haji Ismail, which was aimed at fostering awareness among students of their role as part of the ASEAN community, in line with the ASEAN motto, One Vision, One Identity, One Community.

Students also had the opportunity to participate in a ‘Kenali ASEAN’ quiz, with prizes presented by the school principal.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to promote greater understanding of ASEAN, while fostering patriotism and a sense of unity, or “ASEAN-ness”, instilling appreciation of ASEAN’s purpose and functions, while also strengthening ties between the Information Department and the community, particularly among young students. – Daniel Lim
