MANILA – Fans of BTS (or Armys) from different parts of the world broke the internet when the South Korean boy band revealed the stops for their upcoming world tour, especially when it was confirmed that the Philippines is back on the map after a long wait.

The K-pop powerhouse — composed of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — announced that they are returning to the Philippines on March 13 and 14, 2027, marking their first time to visit the Philippines as a septet in 10 years.

Other stops included in the large-scale tour are South Korea, Japan, the United States, Mexico, Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia, among many others.

Here are some of the details of BTS’s much-awaited world tour that we know so far:

‘Historic’ new chapter

According to BigHit Music via LiveNation US, the tour is shaping to be the “biggest global K-pop tour of all time,” covering 24 regions and 79 shows.

“Set to be the biggest global K-pop tour of all time, and the largest of their career to date, the run will span 34 regions and 79 shows, featuring first-ever performances in several cities and marking a historic new chapter for the group and their global fanbase, ARMY,” BigHit and LiveNation US said in a statement.

“These shows mark BTS’s first headline performances as a group since their celebrated 2021–2022 ‘PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE’ tour, which spanned 12 shows across Seoul, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. As one of the first K-pop groups to achieve true global crossover success and shatter attendance and gross records worldwide, BTS continues to redefine what’s possible for the genre with this massive stadium tour,” they added.

For the Philippines, the local branch of LiveNation will be handling the upcoming show.

“SAVE THE DATE! BTS WORLD TOUR is officially coming to MANILA! Venue and ticketing information will be announced on a later date,” it said on X (formerly Twitter).

360-degree stage

The layout of BTS’s concert will follow a “360-degree, in-the-round stage design,” where the audience is said to be “at the center of the experience,” as stated by BigHit.

This can be seen on the layout of Goyang Stadium in South Korea, where the septet will kick off their world tour on April 9, 11 and 12. The stage is placed at the center with wings spread out in the four corners of the venue.

The 360-degree stage layout is also seen in Tokyo Dome, the second stop of BTS’s world tour, which is scheduled to happen on April 17 and 18.

“Notably, the tour will feature a 360-degree, in-the-round stage design — a first for a K-pop stadium tour. The immersive setup places the audience at the center of the experience while allowing for increased capacity at every venue,” it said.

It remains unknown how this setup will be executed in the Philippines at the moment.

Looking back at past concerts in the country, only the Philippine Arena in Bulacan (which was tightly pulled off) and the SMDC Concert Grounds were able to pull off the 360-degree layout during Twice’s “This is For” show and Ed Sheeran’s “Mathematics (+-=÷x)” tour, respectively.

It also remains unknown if the Goyang and Tokyo stops will be livestreamed for a fee on Weverse, as of this writing.

Details on BTS’s next set of shows, particularly the Manila stop, will be revealed on the septet’s official website in the coming days. /ra
