PHNOM PENH – Cambodia has banned entry for all 22 members of the Oversight Board for Meta, the parent company of Facebook, effective from July 4. Should any of them be found inside the country, they will be deported within 48 hours.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced the ban in a July 4 notice, which also listed all names of the Oversight Board members.
The decision came days after Prime Minister Hun Sen declared that he had permanently left the widely popular social media platform, following news that the Oversight Board had recommended a six-month suspension of his Facebook account over a January video post deemed to be a breach of the US tech titan’s policy.
