PHNOM PENH – To realise the goal, a meeting on bilateral tourism cooperation was organised on September 2, the sixth of its kind.
Try Chhiv, director of the ministry’s Department of International Cooperation and ASEAN, said both sides have agreed on the action plan for tourism cooperation 2023-2025.
The plan covers facilitation of travel and border crossings; promotion of joined market research themed “two country, one goal”; human resource development; quality tourism development; and promotion of tourism investment opportunities in the two countries.
According to Chhiv, both sides highly appreciated the enforcement of joined action plan for tourism cooperation 2019-2021 — in line with the decision made in the second meeting held in Kampot province in 2018 — although the global economy was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chhiv said Thailand praised the Cambodian government for putting in place effective measures to fight Covid-19, in particular the rollout of nationwide vaccination campaign which eventually enabled the resumption of socio-economic activities.
He said both sides will meet for further talks on this cooperation in the coming weeks in Siem Reap province, as well as at the ministerial meeting under the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) scheduled for November 1-5, also in Siem Reap.
