PHNOM PENH – Cambodia has welcomed two Indonesian military officers who are joining the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT). The team is tasked with monitoring the implementation of border measures between Cambodia and Thailand, explained the Ministry of National Defence.

Ministry spokesperson Maly Socheata released a statement detailing how the two men — Lieutenant Colonel Devi Ibrohim and Major Rangga Hadi Saputra — arrived at Techo International Airport on April 25, where they were welcomed by officials from the Department of International Relations and the Cambodia Liaison Group (CLG).

“The Indonesian officers will serve as part of the AOT, led by current ASEAN chair the Philippines, to observe and report on the effective implementation of all measures outlined in the joint statement regarding the border situation,” said the release.

Cambodia reiterated its full support for the AOT, emphasising the importance of strengthening the team’s mandate to ensure the ceasefire and agreed measures between Cambodia and Thailand are implemented effectively.

The participation of friendly nations, the statement noted, is key to enhancing transparency, accountability and mutual trust.

The Cambodian government and defence ministry also reaffirmed their “firm, sincere and unwavering commitment” to implementing the outcomes of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee held on December 27, 2025, as well as the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement dated October 26, 2025, and other related agreements.
