PHNOM PENH – Cambodia’s national jet ski team continued to showcase the country’s growing strength on the international stage after winning five gold and two silver medals at the opening round of the 2026 Jet Ski World Series in Bulgaria.
Although the Kingdom has had limited opportunities to compete in multi-sport events such as the SEA Games and Asian Games since winning one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the home 2023 SEA Games, the national team has continued to produce impressive results on the global circuit.
Competing from July 8 to 12, all five Cambodian riders returned home with medals, underlining the country’s emergence as one of the sport’s strongest nations.
Young rider Kai Vansiden led the medal haul with two gold medals, winning the Amateur Ski 4 Stroke Lites and Amateur Ski Modified categories.
Team captain Saly Ou Moeut, an Asian Games and SEA Games gold medallist, claimed another world-level title by winning gold in the Sport GP category, demonstrating that he remains among the sport’s elite despite also serving as a mentor to the next generation of Cambodian riders.
Min Osman added another gold in the Novice Ski Stock class and also secured silver in the Amateur Ski Modified event.
Cambodia’s fifth gold medal came through Tiet Salah, who triumphed in the Novice Runabout 1100 Stock category.
Meanwhile, Min Mustan claimed silver in the Expert Ski GP event to complete Cambodia’s seven-medal tally.
Following the final on July 12, the Cambodian embassy in Bulgaria congratulated Ou Moeut after his victory at Sarafovo Beach in Burgas.
The embassy described the 2024 world champion as producing another outstanding performance, finishing with 120 points to defeat defending 2025 world champion Simon Belcher of the United Kingdom, who finished on 106 points.
Sharing photographs of Ou Moeut proudly carrying the Cambodian flag after his victory, the embassy wrote: “Cambodia is proud of you. Continue to raise Cambodia’s flag high on the world stage”.
Prime Minister Hun Manet also congratulated the team for its impressive medal haul, describing the achievement as another source of pride for Cambodia.
The strong performance is expected to provide added confidence as the Cambodian team prepares for the second round of the World Series, which will be held in the US from October 8 to 11.
