PHNOM PENH – Thirty-nine Cambodian civil servants are set to embark on a specialised training program in Public Policy and Governance at the National Center for Good Governance (NCGG) in Mussoorie, India, from September 15 to 26, thanks to the support of the Indian government.
A September 10 Indian embassy press release noted that the training marks a significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between India and Cambodia in civil service training. The participants represent ten ministries.
The programme is being organised as part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, under the Ministry of External Affairs, and will be the 11th such course for Cambodian officials. A total of 160 Cambodian civil servants already participated in training at the NCGG in 2023.
In 2024, another six batches, benefiting 240 officials from various ministries, were included.
Indian ambassador Vanlalvawna Bawitlung emphasised the importance of capacity building in the field of public policy to deliver good governance. He encouraged Cambodian officials to maximise their learning experience in India and to become positive contributors to the growth of bilateral relations between India and Cambodia.
The send-off function was presided over by Minister of Civil Service Hun Many.
According to the release, ITEC is the leading capacity building platform of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. Formed in 1964, it is one of the oldest institutionalised arrangements for international capacity building having trained more than 225,000 officials from 160+ countries.
