PHNOM PENH – T.Y Media & Advertising, a local firm that organises and runs Esports events in Cambodia, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Esport Federation Cambodia (EFC) to establish the first dedicated centre of its kind in the Kingdom. The facility, to be called T.Y Media Esports Centre, is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

The firm’s director-general, who was identified only as “T.Y”, expressed his pleasure at the signing held at the Ministry of Interior on December 18. He considered the MoU a symbol of the federation’s faith in his company’s ability to develop esports, ahead of the Kingdom’s hosting of the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

“The T.Y Media Esports Centre will host domestic and international competitions in all disciplines, and will also be used as a training facility.

“We will work with the federation to train the national team. Training systems which meet international standards will be employed to make sure our competitors can compete on the world stage and win medals for the motherland,” he added.

EFC president Chea Chanboribo said the new centre would become the home of Cambodian e-sports. It would be a place where players could train to sharpen their skills and strengthen their abilities.

“It is fantastic that Cambodian esports will finally have a dedicated home. In the past, we held events in many different venues and moved training sessions from place to place. Soon we will have a permanent, world-class facility, much like the ones used by other nation’s federations,” he said.

“We want this centre to be an academy which will develop players for the federation. This MoU is a big step towards the federation’s expansion,” he added.

According to the MoU, the T.Y Media Esports Centre will be built on an area of 5,000sqm and will feature an auditorium which can accommodate up to 1,700 people. The centre will have parking for around 200 cars and 300 motorcycles.

The T.Y director-general said his company will attempt to secure more partners to support more frequent competitions and other events which would provide valuable experience to the Kingdom’s players.

Just two weeks ago, T.Y partnered with Minesk Global – an esport powerhouse with branches in seven countries including Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand – which has organised various tournaments and has a wide realm of experience in the world of Esports.
