PHNOM PENH – Prime Minister Hun Sen urged the World-Bays Club to look into the possibility of banning the use of plastic at all beautiful bays around the world.

The request was made when he met with Michel Bujold, president of the World-Bays Club, in Preah Sihanouk province on December 10 on the sideline of 16th World Congress of the World-Bays Club, according to Hun Sen’s personal assistant Eang Sophalleth.

During the meeting, Sophalleth said Michel Bujold also praised Prime Minister Hun Sen for turning the Covid-19 crisis into an opportunity to develop infrastructure in the country, especially in Preah Sihanouk province.

“The World-Bays Club delegation learned that the prime minister has changed the Covid-19 crisis into an opportunity. He had used the Covid-19 hiatus to construct road infrastructure, drainage, water treatment facilities and beautified the town by installing traffic lights. It can be said Preah Sihanouk province is glitteringly beautiful,” said Bujold.

Bujold also praised Cambodia for its successes in Covid-19 control, leading to a full society reopening in November of last year, and enabling it to host world summits recently, including the 16th World Congress of the World-Bays Club.

He also said he was happy that Hun Sen will travel to Europe soon and while there he will share his experiences in peace seeking, including his comments on the situation in Ukraine.

“Peace gives birth to rights to life and other rights, development, infrastructure development, as well as the annual Sea Festival to attract tourists, which supports the Cambodian economy,” Hun Sen said.
